After performing in various music projects, Elise Higgins found herself living in London and at a crossroad. With her latest endeavour winding down, Higgins faced a decision – head back to her native Perth and join the 9 to 5 grind; or, to do something else…to make something more. It was at this juncture that Fait was born, the French word pronounced with an Australian tongue. 

Raised on a healthy diet of piano, guitar, sibling’s records, and an unrelenting self-determination to make music, Higgins developed a penchant for song structure, ambience and cinematic climax. 

While in London, a previous encounter with producer Darren Lawson (My Bloody Valentine, White Lies), would prove serendipitous with Lawson manning the sound desk for Fait’s debut offering, the Atmosphere EP. Fait pricked up the ears of the local industry with her arresting showcase at BIGSOUND the following year coupled with maiden sold out headline shows before the coveted support slots and festival offers came rolling in. In The Pines, West Australian Music Awards, Disconnect, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and joining Karnivool on their national tour – Higgins, flanked by her live accomplices, began to bring their craft to life.
